Current research topics

  • Redox chemical biology

We are interested in creating probes to measure and control the concentration of redox-active molecules in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. We combine small organic molecules and protein-based probes to achieve chemical specificity and subcellular precision.

  • Imaging tools

We are developing small-molecule and protein-based tools to enable live-cell imaging with super-resolution and minimal disturbance of the specimen. We are particularly interested in developing new small labels, robust sensors, and red-shifted fluorophores.

  • Single-molecule proteomics

We are developing optical methods to identify peptides and proteins with single-molecule sensitivity. We use spontaneously blinking fluorophores to label peptides and proteins. We analyze their single-molecule fluorescence traces using deep learning.
